“European” that is the name for this sound, the sound that SEPALOT has chosen to be his own. A sound that doesn’t fit a specific formula, but who cares, when it hits you with the force and power that this album has. Known to be a DJ that mixes all his favourite styles into a melange of hip hop and related sounds, with a big piece of electro thrown in, he took his DJ experiences just one step further. From Sydney to Johannesburg, from Moscow to his hometown Munich he left turntables sizzling and collected star-studded guests along the way.
Starting off this array of featured artists were famed JDilla Detroit boys Frank’n’Dank, followed by New Zealand’s Fat Freddy’s Drops lovely singer Ladi6, as well as Germanys own shrill and wonderful soul diva Miss Platnum, Olivier Day Soul bringing the funk back, LA resident MC Blu and last but not least NYs number one hope when it comes to rap: Saigon, with the throbbing “Did it again!”
The first single from the album “She likes me” featuring Frank Nitty (the Frank in Frank’n’Dank) sets the tone for what’s in store and created quite a buzz amongst local and international Djs. With west coast Mc Blu being the featured guest on the B-side “Surrender”, a track specifically chosen for its more hard core approach, Sepalot is showcasing the versatility of an album that can truly hold its own amongst a multitude of international releases.
As a member of German hip hop pioneers “Blumentopf” he released various Top 10 and Top 20 albums, sold over 300.000 albums with them in Germany alone and helped take their countless sold out shows to the boiling point behind his decks. The well-deserved time out from the group, who’s producer and Dj he remains, is now successfully used to create his own sound. „Hip Hop and Beyond“ so lassen sich SEPALOT`s nächtlichen DJ-Eskapaden am besten beschreiben. Als DJ tourt er weltweit, von Johannesburg, Sydney bis nach Moskau und hat in der Heimatstadt München als Resident seine wöchentliche Clubnacht.
SEPALOT ist bekannt dafür sein Publikum auf eine Reise durch Hip Hop und Elektronik zu schicken – ohne Jetlegs.
Mit seiner Band „Blumentopf“ veröffentlichte er zwei Top 10 Alben, zwei Top 20 Alben und verkaufte über 300 000 CD`s. Die zahlreichen ausverkauften Touren führten ihn auch nach Beirut, Aman, Cairo und Alexandria und unterstreichen nur dass seine Arbeit weit über die eines „Beatmakers“ hinaus geht.
Neben diversen Remixen und zahlreichen anderen Projekten wie Veröffentlichungen im Libanon, in Holland (Beat Dimensions / Rush Hour) und Filmsoundtracks, steht nun sein neustes Soloalbum namens „RED HANDED“ für Compost Records an. „RED HANDED“ kommt am 06.06.08. Das hier internationale Gäste wie Saigon, Frank`n`Dank, Blu, Ladi6 und Miss Platnum zu hören sein werden ist da nur konsequent.

„Europäisch“ kann man diesen Sound nennen, den SEPALOT hier vorlegt. Einen Sound der zwar in keine
bestehende Schublade passt, allerdings so druckvoll und knackig daherkommt, dass die Schublade ganz schnell keine Rolle mehr spielt. Als DJ mischt er seit langem HipHop mit artverwandtem und streut nicht zuletzt eine grosse Prise Electro über dem ganzen aus. Von Sydney bis Johannesburg, von Moskau bis zu seiner Heimatstadt München, lies er im letzten Jahr die Turntables brennen und sammelte nebenbei die spannendsten Gäste für sein Album ein.
Den Anfang machten in der Produktion Detroits JDillla Proteges Frank’n’Dank, gefolgt von Frontfrau Ladi6, der Neuseeländer Underground Helden Fat Freddys Drop, Deutschlands wunderbar, schrillem Soulwunder Miss Platnum, Olivier Day Soul, Blu und zuletzt NYs grösste Hoffnung in Sachen Rap: Saigon, mit dem Track “Did it again”
Die erste Single, “She likes me” zusammen mit Frank Nitty (die zweite Hälfte des legendären Duos Frank’n’Dank), setzte den Ton für das, was kommen wird und sorgte in DJ Kreisen für Furore. Die B-Seite “Surrender” mit west coast MC Blu als Gast, schlägt bewusst eine etwas härtere Tonart an und spiegelt so gekonnt die zu erwartende Vielseitigkeit wider. Auch im internationalen Vergleich liess diese erste Auskopplung erahnen, was das Album verspricht.
Als Mitglied der Band Blumentopf veröffentlichte SEPALOT zwei Top 10 und zwei Top 20 Alben, verkaufte mit der Band, deren Produzent und DJ er seit fast 10 Jahren ist und auch bleibt, in Deutschland über 300 000 CDs und konnte von den Decks aus unzählige, ausverkaufte Hallen zum Kochen bringen. Die Blumentopf Auszeit nutzen SEPALOT und seine Kollegen zum Alleingang, zum Abenteuer den eignen Stil auf Platte zu bannen.
